Running to Alaska: Tim Johnson

by ARF Team

Tim Johnson and Jacksonville bridges

Jacksonville, Florida resident Tim Johnson made the commitment to run by registering on March 31st. Tim also sent us some information about why he runs.

"After having triple bypass surgery in 2009, my doctor encouraged me to participate in my health care. He said medicine alone will not be enough to keep me healthy. That was a great motivation to get up and move. What started out as something I hated I now love and look forward in running in Alaska. Can’t wait! On your mark, get set, Runfest!"

Tim will be coming to Alaska with family and friends. They saw the RunFest included a 5K on Sunday and said to each other, "Let’s do this!" Tim and his friend Gregg will be running. Tim’s wife and three of her friends will be walking.

Doesn’t this sound like a great way to start an Alaskan vacation? In addition to the race, they’ll be taking a cruise out of Whittier.

They are super excited to run in Alaska. We understand!
