Four race records were broken on Sunday at the Anchorage RunFest. Under perfect running conditions (cool and overcast with just a little bit of "liquid sunshine" earlier in the morning) Alaska runners excelled.
In the United Physical Therapy 49K, James Miller, 35, of Anchorage, AK (left photo above) ran a sizzling 3:28:28, slicing a whopping 17:53.9 off the previous record set just last year. How to rep Alaska James!
Former Chugiak and and UAF runner Kenneth Brewer, 23, of Chugiak, AK (right photo above) posted a finish time of a 2:37:44 in the Moose’s Tooth Marathon, dropping the prior record by :59 seconds. This was Kenny’s first road marathon and it was undoubtedly a success.
Former UAA XC runner, Katie Krehilik, 26, of Anchorage, AK (center photo above) posted a record time in the Moose’s Tooth Marathon. Katie ran a powerful 3:00:33.0 erasing the prior record by 4:16. Katie ran for a Boston Qualifying time. Given that her age group requires a 3:35, she definitely did it! Impressive!
In the Bear Tooth Marathon Relay, the Arctic Tern team, comprised of Mimi Allen, Everett Cason, Aubrey LeClair, and Bryce Pintner (all of Anchorage, AK), reduced the overall marathon relay record by 1:51, posting a total time of 3:03:53. Great job Terns!
