Anchorage Running Club
The Anchorage Running Club (ARC) is a not-for-profit organization with over 800 members of all shapes, sizes, ages and abilities from elite runners, middle-of-the packers, red lantern award winners and recreational walkers.
The Anchorage Running Club is a 501 (c)(3) all volunteer organization. Its mission is to promote a healthy life style through running and exercise. Funds raised by the club go toward the support of community running events, the creation of new events throughout the year, the ARC scholarship program for deserving high school seniors, and high school sports teams. The Anchorage RunFest is the main fund raiser for the club.
ARC is governed by a nine-person board of directors and is a member of the Road Runners Club of America, USA Track and Field, and Running USA.
One of the goals of the ARC and Anchorage RunFest is to raise scholarship funds for Alaska high school runners to help out with their education expenses. Each year the ARC receives dozens of applications and chooses outstanding students to receive college scholarships. In 2016 ARC will award $2,500 to six students for a total of $15,000.
