Anchorage RunFest 5K

NEW in 2022! The Anchorage RunFest 5K just added a fantastic runner perk! We are awarding one randomly chosen finisher an Alaska Airlines round trip ticket. You don't need to be the fastest runner, just the luckiest!

Course Overview

The 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) out and back course begins in the heart of downtown Anchorage. Runners begin by heading west on 6th Avenue. They turn right (north) on H Street, then take Christenson Drive down till it meets 2nd Avenue. Runners then head west on 2nd Avenue and onto the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail till the turnaround point.

Field Limit

The 5K field is limited to the first 1200 entrants.


The 5K starts and finishes on 6th Avenue between F and G Street adjacent to Humpy’s Great Alaskan Alehouse in downtown Anchorage.

Time Cut-off

The course closes at 3:30 PM. Runners must cross the finish line by 3:30 PM to be considered official finishers.

Awards will be distributed in Town Square Park. Be sure to check for Age Group Awards.

Awards are given to the top three over-all male and female finishers as well as the top three male and female finishers in each 5-year age group. The top three finishers will receive awards in their respective age groups as well. Awards will be distributed in Town Square Park.

All awards are based on chip times -- the time elapsed from when a runner crosses the timing mat at start line till when that runner crosses the timing mat at the finish line.

The Anchorage RunFest is one of the annual events put on by the Anchorage Running Club. Successful completion of eligible races qualifies a runner for the coveted Sleeping Lady Challenge medal. See more information regarding the Sleeping Lady Challenge.
