Skinny Raven Half Marathon
Sunday, August 20, 2017 -- 9:30 AM
RRCA State Championship Event
The 2017 Skinny Raven Half Marathon has been designated a Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) State Championship Event. RRCA awards will be presented to the top male and female in each of the following categories: open; masters (40+); grand masters (50+); and senior grand masters (60+).
The half marathon is the most popular race of the Anchorage RunFest.
The 13.1 mile course begins in the heart of downtown Anchorage. Runners head west on 6th Avenue, north on H Street, then straight ahead on Christensen Drive to 2nd Avenue where the course turns left to join the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail. The course veers east at Westchester Lagoon and continues on the Chester Creek Trail to the turnaround (the roundabout at the base of the hill beyond, or east of, the bridge to East High School) where runners will loop back toward Westchester Lagoon and downtown Anchorage.
The half marathon course is USATF certified.
The half marathon field is limited to the first 1500 entrants.
The half marathon starts and finishes on 6th Avenue between F and G Street adjacent to the Performing Arts Center in downtown Anchorage. Start time is 9:30 AM.
Half-marathoners must finish by 3:30 PM in order to receive an official time. If runners are not finished by the cut-off time they may finish the run on their own without the benefit of aid stations or finish line support.
- Long-sleeve technical shirt
- Finisher's medal
- Professional timing
- Food and beverage at the finish line
Awards are given to the top three over-all male and female finishers as well as the top three male and female finishers in each 5-year age group. Awards will be distributed in Town Square Park. All awards are based on gun times -- the time elapsed from the sound of the start gun to when a runner crosses the timing mat at the finish line.
